Major League Baseball’s Carlos Ruiz meets Major League Soccer’s Carlos Ruiz
On Friday, April 15, Major League Soccer star, Carlos Ruiz from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Philadelphia-Union-c40231 met Carlos Ruiz from Major League Baseball franchise, Philadelphia Phillies. Besides sharing the same jersey number, 51, both the players have the same pedigree in their respective
games.
Football Ruiz and baseball Ruiz are both from Central http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/America-c38390; the soccer one is from Guatemala while the Baseball star is Panamanian, and both speak the same language. “He was a very nice person,” the Union veteran said. “We talked in Spanish and joked
around. He gave me his cell phone number, and one day soon we’re going hang out and have dinner with our families.”
On Saturday, the MLS Ruiz played against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Seattle-Sounders-FC-c40474 at PPL Stadium and scored the decisive goal for his team to level up the score line at 1—1. The following day, MLB’s catcher Ruiz played a match-winning role in the league game against Florida
Marlins.
Given the fan base of the US national game, Ruiz – in his buttoned shirts – has become a heart throb among the followers.
“I know him because when I Google Carlos Ruiz, his name pops up,” the Union striker said, laughing. “I’m not that big a fan of baseball. I understand the game and I played when I was a kid in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Guatemala-c2913 but I don’t follow too much baseball. But now I’m going
to follow the Phillies. I have the jersey.”
Ruiz had his share of joy on Saturday as he scored his team’s lone goal. Although the celebration was far from ideal – he took manager Peter Nowak in his arms - the player’s 25-yard free-kick was an excellent effort that sailed past http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kasey-Keller-c20419 into the
net.
Right after the goal, the player ran to bench where he found Nowak all hyped up. The manager could not find anything to hold on to and fell hilariously into the player’s arms.
“I was trying to celebrate the goal with the bench because everybody’s a part of the team,” Ruiz said. “Sometimes you just see the 11 guys playing but everyone is on the same page. I was trying to go to the bench and Peter was the first guy there, so we
celebrated together.”
