Question:

Major diarrhea and diaper rash...?

A little background information...Kaylee (14 months) has been dealing with allergies since Thursday of last week. I have been given her Nasop for her congestion, but nothing for the allergies. She woke up Tuesday morning with thick, green mucus so I took her to the doctor. They gave her an antibiotic (Omnicef, which she has had before) for a sinus infection. She seems fine. Except, and this is the main question here, she has had diarrhea on and off several times a day since Monday. Now, because of the diarrhea she has a serious diaper rash that I can't seem to get rid of. She hasn't been eating good for the last two weeks.

I know a lot of information, but is all of these different symptoms related or is she dealing with many different things? I little advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

  1. Is she drinking lots of juice? If so, then cut this out of her diet for awhile. Juice is very acidic, which ill irritate the rash, and it will also contribute to the diarrhea.

If she is still on formula try to thicken it up a bit to made her stools a little more solid.

Also, just make sure you are changing her nappy a minimum of every 2 hours.

You probably already know these things, but just in case...

    Best of luck

  2. The B.R.A.T diet is what my pediatrician calls it.

    Bananas

    Rice

    can't remember the "A"

    and toast

    * NO formula or milk until it clears up......only pedialite

You could cal your pediatrician ask about the diet and they should be able to tell you about it without hesitation b/c i have yet to see a doctor who hasn't.

Basically bland food until her stomach settles.

not alot of sugar or seasonings.

As far as the diaper rash try "Triple Paste" Which you can find at any CVS or drug store, which comes highly recommended over any other type of diaper rash cream other the "END IT" which you can probably find at a local drug store and I know for sure at Wal-mart, but you'll have to ask for it AT the pharmacy in wal-mart b/c here they keep it behind the counter.  We use end it and it truly is the best and clears up even the very worste of diaper rashes in no to. As far as wipes use ONLY the Pampers Sensitive wipes. those are the only ones that are tender enough on a bare bottom with a very horrible diaper rash.

    Good luck
