Afghanistan is in an area that is known to have bad earthquakes.

Also, rivers are threatened from global warming because of melting glaciers.  If there are no glaciers, they won't have any water flowing into the rivers which would be a disaster for crops and water for the people.

Current Environmental issues:

limited natural fresh water resources; inadequate supplies of potable water; soil degradation; overgrazing; deforestation (much of the remaining forests are being cut down for fuel and building materials); desertification; air and water pollution
