Major loop hole in religion?

Ok first i want to let you know that i have a huge habit of finding loop holes in things. in my freshman year i found a loop hole in every rule they said. so don't think that i am just looking for loop holes in things...

In religion they say that if you get baptized then all of your previous sin that you have committed and ( im not to sure about this part) you can be accepted into heaven. So by that logic you could be a mass murder steal and everything along those lines and then right before you die you get baptized and all those sins are forgiven and they can go to heaven.

im not entirely sure how accurate that is but i think have the general idea and i just think thats kind of messed up.

what are your thoughts?

  1. That's been an example i have used before

example  two 18 year old   (according to christians they are accountable to have either accepted JC or not)

    two 18  year old kids

One kid  outstanding kid  helped with all things  the prime example of what Christ would do and act in most situations   only thing is  he never  took the plunge  or accepted christ  Maybe due to other spiritually believes etc

the other kid a punk  trouble trouble double trouble

one nite  punk kid   kills  good kid

punk  sentenced to death row   for  ooh bout 15 years

the night before the xacution    he   said   o by the way

i do  until death due us part   Or  yes i take  Jc as my blah

morel of christian  story     good kid  is with me in h**l

(thank God)   other kid  goes on to play the harp

Ps  i was raised a christian  in a very strict family

for many years  i had to read  study and say my scriptures etc

I heard more about Satin than ever about God

I am now with out religion   I study spiritual metaphysics

and have a greater passion  than ever before

For me to go to heaven  would be like h**l

so i must go to h**l   to be in heaven lol

don't believe in either concept   as taught

  2. Well, I think my religion says there is no sin above another, so a person that tells a white lie and a pedophile murderer are the same as far as a sinner. Do I believe that? No, my religion was interpreted by man, man is an idiot, so I assume there were translation errors. Ever try to tell a joke in another language, it never comes out funny.

  3. Well first this really doesn't belong in Earth Science.

Second, you are pretty much right, but you lack a little background data...I'm guessing you don't go to Church much...but your assessment is pretty much correct.

A lot of people (including many people here) fundamentally misunderstand Christianity, and the nature of salvation. It comes down to Faith vrs. Works.

A lot of people adhere to the idea that somewhere up there in Heaven God is watching you with a little black book, and every time you do something good you get a gold star, and every time you do something bad you get a black mark, and when you die God runs up the total, and if you have more gold stars than black marks, you get into Heaven.

That is NOT what Christianity teaches.

Christianity is better summed up in the phrase "You're Gorked up, God can Help."

People are, by our very nature, flawed beings. We aren't perfect. Even the best amongst us sin. It is our nature. It is called "Original Sin." Not a bloody thing WE can do about it.

Given this, there is NO way (repeat NO way) we can get to Heaven on our own. Doesn't matter how much you give to charity, doesn't matter how nice you are to old people, doesn't matter if you are just the most holy person to ever come down the pike, you can NOT "earn" your way into Heaven. I mean think about that...if you could "earn" your way into Heaven that would put you in the position of being able to give orders, and make demands upon God.  We're talking GOD here...the guy that invented the electron, who created the whole great Universe, dark matter, multiple dimensions, black holes and everything, who is all knowing, eternal and ALL POWERFUL, and here's some snot nosed little human standing there saying "You had darn well better shape up and do as I say buster, 'cuse I EARNED this!"

    NOT going to happen!

The way, (the ONLY way) we get into Heaven is through Christ's sacrifice and CHRIST's mercy.  We accept Him, HIS sacrifice on the Cross "pays our way" in to Heaven.

So you are right,  it doesn't matter how horrible a person you have been, and it doesn't matter what you have done, IF you accept Christ, then HE will save you...that's why He's called "the Savior". This is generally considered to be a good thing, as it means that NOBODY is beyond hope or help, ever, unless they choose to be. If Stalin himself had so wished, he too could have been forgiven on his deathbed.

So yes, you are pretty much accurate in your assessment.

But I think you are incorrect to think it is "messed up", because Christianity isn't about "how much can I "get away" with and still squeeze into Heaven at the end". Christianity is about Christ saying "None of you people deserve this, but I'm going to set it up so you can have eternal life with me in Heaven because I really, really love you all; so I'm going to do this, even if it kills me." (Which in the end it did, but he got over it...)

In any case if we all "got what we deserved" we would all, literally, be dammed, so when you think about it, it's really a pretty good deal.

A good book on this subject is C.S. Lewis's THE GREAT DIVORCE. It is pretty short, and you seem to be pretty smart, you might want to pick it up.

  4. 1. Who cares? Religion is all made up anyway.

    2. Why are you posting this in Geology?

My thought is that you don't read things very carefully, so you think you find loopholes where none exist.

  5. It's not a loophole. By the teachings of the church, your sins will only be forgiven if you are truly sorry for having done them. It doesn't matter how serious the crime, God will forgive you if you are truly sorry.

The real major loophole in most religions is that God doesn't exist.

  6. i think they saying your talking about is this... if a man goes to Church  all the time and never sins  got baptized the hole 9 yards.. ( never.cusses steals etc) and you have another man who steals cussed kills etc but he asks god 4 forgiveness before he dies .. who will go to heaven ? the man who asked god for his forgiveness.. cause god never ask any one to seat at church and listen to someone preach his word. and if you don't ask for forgiveness how is he going to forgive you..being baptized is not asking for forgiveness. you need to ask him to forgive it  don't matter where your at.. long as you ask for it .. remember he forgives everything.  he don't judge any one..

and i was raised catholic till i understood that i can if i want talk with god when i want to where i want.. i don't need another person to go threw .. some Church's have times when you can ask for forgiveness which i think is bs.. if you want to ask god to forgive you ... you  can you don't need to be at church..

as for your loop hole it is possible since the bible has been rewritten so many times  to make people understand  .. i don't go threw the bible any more since i found out that it has been rewritten and since there is no one left who  can read the Scriptures any more  it is really hard to say what it actually is talking about. and the scriptures they say is the bible are not .. from my understanding is that the 1 church has them and not on display cant be read. cause the wording that it has hasnt been spoken in years. so who's to say that .. the bible now a days is written correctly... but that is only my opinion

  7. I think you would make a good tax lawyer.

Or maybe a parking infringement lawyer. For instance, are those parking ticket machines (that give you a bit of paper with the parking expiry time) "parking meters"?  They don't actually meter anything, so how can they be?

  8. the Bible tells us to "repent, believe and be baptized for the remission of sins". you must meet all the qualifications. Baptism alone will not get you to heaven and it is not absolutely necessary that you be baptized. it is an act of faith and obedience. you must believe that Jesus Christ died as an atonement for the sins you have committed and not only you but every other person on earth. if you meet all qualifications and call on the Name of Jesus, you will be saved. so your loophole doesn't hold any significance. just another guy trying to look like a big man.

  9. Well, I don't think it is a loop hole - it is just an aspect of some sects of the Christian religion.  You might wish to explore Dante's Divine Comedy for the Catholic view at the time he lived.  According to the concept of free will, a mass murderer has made choices and will deny him (or her) self access to God by the choices made, but according to the concept of redemption through Christ, if you truely accept Christ into your heart then you are saved for God no matter what you have done - note however that while you are not condeming yourself to Hades - you may suffer punishment in Purgatory for what you have done - the point of the Divine Comedy.

See, it's a bit more complicated than finding a loop hole.

  10. You're assessment is fairly accurate.  This is how the Catholic Church made alot of their money in the Middle Ages.  The Church sold 'Indulgences'  this meant you could literally buy a pardon for your sins.

I believe that this sort of thing is the worst thing about Christianity...sure do all the bad things you want, then repent your sins, and poof! everything's okay.

I believe that a better approach would be to live a good life and try not to hurt anyone.

Thanks for bringing it up.  I'll be interested to see what other think.
