Major period problems, cramps, digestive problems?

My periods have always been horrible, but this one is particularly nasty. I cramp so much that I end up curled up on the floor, my bed, the beanbag chair, anywhere. I am so hungry, but everything I look at makes me nausous, because of my cramps and also because of the fact that my bowels go heywire around this time. They can't decide which to do with - constipation, diarrea, or hemmoroids, so I usually end with a noxious mix of them all.

To make a long story short, I've tried pain meds, and Motrin, and they help a little but not enough. I am looking for an alternative way to deal with this time of the month. ANY and ALL suggestions are helpful. Thanks!

  1. What you can do is take a bath and just relax. After the bath, go to bed. DO NOT get up or the cramps will get worse. While you sleep, just lay down, don't sleep on sides. Put a heading pad on your stomach and it works.

    Don't take Advil.

  2. You sound just like me back in 2002. Turns out I had endometreosis. It sucks hardcore! Heat is your best friend it helps a lot. It's true that taking birth control will help with this problem, but that's not a natural way to help it. Red raspberry leaf tea, chaste tree berries (vitex), and emotional cleansing are the way to go. The emotional aspects are holding on too much, you need to let go. Think about it and give it a try. Although you can never get cure endometreosis you can keep it in check. What got mine on the right path was being pregnant with my son. I've kept it under control since then. It feeds off sugar and yeast. Maybe you don't have it at all, look it up and see if the symptoms match. Good luck and best wishes!

  3. - Take a magesium supplement.  It helps relax muscles, and some women need extra on their menstrual cycle.  Chocolate is rich in magnesium, which is why some women crave it during their periods.

    - Drink lots of water.

    - Take a fiber supplement, or dramatically increase your fiber intake during your period.  Fiber can control both constipation and diarrhea.  Make sure you're getting at least 25-35g per day, both by supplement and foods.

    - Place a heating pad on your stomach to decrease the pain from cramping.

  4. I used to have all the same problems. My cycles lasted seven and eight days sometimes! The only thing that helped was birth control. The pill is usually great for these symptoms. My cramps were usually three days after that and I barely had any symptoms at all. The only con is taking a pill every day. But its well worth it.

  5. Well I'm guessing you don't smoke Cannabis or you wouldn't be asking this question. Anyway, before I smoked, I had the same problem and the best thing to do is take some pain medicine (Ibuprofen is what I used) and get a heating pad, put it on your lower stomach mainly, a little on your lower back and left leg.. it REALLLYYY helps.

  6. wow you are the textbook example of what a medical marijuana doctor is looking for. medical marijuana eases your cramps, relieves your anxiety, and makes you hungry. if you live in a state where medical marijuana is legal, i suggest you give it a try (if you're of age).

i should know, i got my prescription for the same exact reason

  7. Dong Quai, Danggui, Yimucao and Huixiang are all supposed to help for menstrual cramps.

A web search for "chinese herbs" + "menstrual cramps" will give you further information.
