Majority of african americans near new york?

ok so I'm in the 11th grade and live on long island (in new york). when i go to college i want to go to a city close to new york (family reasons) that has a high african american population... so can u tell me some african american cites near new york and i'll do the research

  1. Jersey also has a high black population while having good colleges.  Might be more expensive though cause you'd be starting with out-of-state resident rates.


  2. New York City, as you surely know, has a large African-American population.  CUNY Queens College is one of the most diverse colleges in the country.  I imagine Philadelphia would also be a good area for what you're looking for.  

    Many of the college guides--check your library--will give you percentages of the makeup of the student body.  

    Honestly, this is a bit of a strange question.  

  3. Check out York College http://york.cuny.edu/.  It is in Queens, NY, which will place you between Manhattan and Long Island.  It also has a large focus on African American, culture, music and arts.
