Makbullet likely to prevail in Duncan Sinclair Memorial Novices´ Hurdle
Makbullet is expected to prevail in the Duncan Sinclair Memorial Novices´ Hurdle at Kelso, England, on Monday, April 2, 2012. The triumphant horse will be awarded a cash prize of £2,534.
The stamina of all runners will be tested in the race, as they will have to cover an overall distance of 2 miles and 2 furlongs.
The going will be good and a total of 12 entries had been initially confirmed for the event, which is scheduled to start at 4:00 GMT.
However, Flaming Clint has been ruled out of the race following an injury.
The six-year-old mare was not expected to make a big impression in the race, as she does not have a very good record over hurdles. She has participated in a couple of such events, but never managed to finish in the top three.
Following are the names of the horses, who will be taking part in the race:
Boruler,
Makbullet,
Talkin Thomas,
Apolskapart,
Shivalric,
Alleged Vanity,
Whiteadder,
Little Glenshee,
Dingo Bay,
Just Stripe, and
Winged Cavallo.
Out of these runners, Makbullet has managed to impress the bookmakers, because of his good record over hurdles.
He has entered seven of such races, winning once. However, he has also secured three runner up positions and one third spot, which means that there were only a couple of occasions where he failed to make it to the top three.
Michael Smith’s trainee has been in good form recently, as he was victorious in his most recent outing.
Importantly, that race took place at Kelso, which will work in favour of Makbullet, who will be well aware of the conditions at the venue.
The five-year-old gelding will definitely win the confidence of the punters, who will be placing quite a few bets in his favour.
Today’s favourite runner will be partnered by Campbell Gillies, who has won 65 races over hurdles.
However, the seasoned jockey does not have a good strike rate and will need to work hard in order to improve it.
Boruler, trained by Donald McCain, will also be a solid contender for a victory at Kelso.
He has taken part in a couple of hurdles, winning one of them. He will be partnered by veteran jockey, Jason Maguire.
The real battle will be between the top two, as they are in great form at the moment. However, Talkin Thomas can also surprise one and all by winning the race.
