I have 4 little car wheels

A fishing string

4 eye hooks

mousetrap.

balsa wood

metal rods

super glue

duct tabe

  1. A lot has to do with the "gear ratio" between the catapult and the axle that it acts upon.  If the axle is too thin, the torque won't be transferred, because the effective ratio is too high.  Try making the axle bigger around.

Um... well I assume you'd use the eyehooks to create low friction  things to hold the axles (metal rods) to which you'd attach the wheels.  Glue the mousetrap to the top of the balsa wood.  Glue one end of the fishing line to one of the axles to keep it from slipping when it's pulled.  Attach the other end to the mousetrap.  Set the trap, wind the wheel, let it go!
