Question:

Make me run!!?

i used to be fit. then i left school, didnt put on weight but became lazy!! 3 years later i know i need to start running but i cant be bothered. once every blue moon i might do a run but i jog for 500m and im stuffed. is there any tips on how to ease myself into jogging?

    slow long distance for staminer,

    stretch to avoid shin splints, wear trainers specifically for running and nothing else


  2. There's nothing for it. You just have to start. If you have a pet, walking it helps. I started walking my whippet every day and now we run.

  5. well, I was in the same situation as you, except I haven’t exercised for 6 months instead of 3 years after leaving university, but just a few weeks ago, I decided to jog again, because I like feeling fit. What I did was look on the map, choose a path, a circle well almost, so I don’t have to run back on the same street. The first day was hard, I could hardly carry on for more than 5 mins, so I ran a bit and walk a bit, the whole trip took me 45mins and everywhere of my body was aching the next day, but you just keep in mind that if you want to look good, you have to make the effort.

    I don’t run everyday, but I do make sure I run at least three times a week. when you cant run you walk, but make sure it’s a long way, 500m is too short, if you can’t run all the way, you can walk the rest, and after few times you will notice you don’t need to walk as much as before and you can run longer and faster:)

    Put your favourite music on the IPOD and start running, you will enjoy it.

  7. It sounds to me that maybe you don't enjoy running, it is not the only sport which you can do to get fit, why not try going to the gym, swimming or team sports like tennis or badminton. Even a fast walk through the park can promote fitness, find something you enjoy doing, if not find a running partner or join a running club and build up your stamina slowly
