Make my room look older in a day????

Question

Hi, I'm alex and I am thirteen. I'm having a big sleepover at my house tomorrow (just planned it, stressfull!) but I want to show my friends I'm more grown up. The problem is my room is pretty much "flower power" from when I decorated it 6 years ago. I have a flower comforter, flower lamps, flower wall trim, ugh everything. It makes me look like I'm totally young and that i have no sense of style. I have been asking for a room redo, so dont say I left it to the last second. I already put away a glitter lamp and stuff like that, and put out pictures, but now what should I do? Please don't say that I shouldn't try to impress them or say anything else mean.

1. Buy a new bed covers.

2. Buy a flowy-type of lace canopy in a light, neutral color.

3. Buy some neutral-colored curtains.

4. Get a simple-colored rug.

5. Buy some pretty artificial flowers (The kind in the fake glass vase w/ fake water) & put them on a bedside table, dresser, etc.

* Paint over some things with a can of paint. For example, if your bookcase looks totally young and childish, with it's coat of pink and purple paint, then grab a simple can of polish paint!

* Painting a lot of things neutral colors: Light green, blue, white, light yellow, light gold, etc. can give a room a nice, airy, feel.

* When choosing things like canopies, curtains, and rugs, don't buy the detailed types. The designs can all clash together, and look very tacky. Also, choose colors carefully. Make sure they will all coordinate with the other decorations in your room and wall color.

i think that painting it white and robin egg blue, and having black and white bedspread looks so cool!

maybe you could make it really messy? that may make you seem like an unruly teenager. maybe your mom has another quilt or duvet cover somewhere around that you  could use.... or maybe she could ake you to a walmart or somethin to get a new one

Change all of the bedding to solid neutrals such as white, brown, or gray. Ask your mom if you can buy some white paint and paint over the flowers.

See if there's another blanket you can use in your house.

paint over the wall trim if you can. just put tape at the bottom of the trim and paint them white.

get some different lamp shades somewhere cheap.

get stuff you like and go with that theme :D

omg when i was 14 i was just like you. but these last two years i figured it out. can't do anything about the trim but ask your mom for a new bedspread. and change the lamp with something in the house?
