So, it's Wednesday, and our local pet shop is closed for some unGodly reason(Yet open on weekends)

My friend found a kitten, took her to a free clinic, got her a perfect bill of health, asked me if I wanted to her, to which I replied, "I have 6 - and a baby. No thanks.."

So, she decided to keep her.

She doesn't have a litterbox and won't be able to get one until tomorrow.

In the mean time, what can she use as a 'makeshift' litterbox. I gave her a box of kitty litter from my never ending stash of..kitty litter, so she's set there, she just needs a box.

What can she use as a make shift temporary litterbox?

  1. a empty cereal box can cut it to size you feel is the  right          height for your cat

  2. A tissue box (if you take the top off of course), a baking pan (absolutely line it with something), or an old tray for paint, like the kind you use with a roller brush.  If all else fails, a bunch of layers of tin foil. Crunch it up into a box-like shape. It won't last long but if should be find for a day if it's just a kitten.

  3. Use a box and line it with a bag with no holes. Try a target bag they are very thick. That should do for one or twe days.

  4. Are there any other stores around? There's always a Walmart somewhere!  : )

Have your friend get a plastic bin and give him some litter (since you say you have six). Or have your friend shred some newspaper.

  5. Shoe box, rubbermaid tote, cut a cereal box lengthwise in half.  It doesn't have to be very big for a kitten.

  6. Any smallish cardboard box w/ sturdy sides is fine - just have her cut down the sides so they aren't too high for kitty to step over easily.

Another possibility that I've used before: a turkey roasting pan or similar aluminum pan w/ lowish sides.

  7. A cardboard box lined with a plastic bag.If it's a small kitten a shoe box will even work until tomorrow. Make sure she watches the kitten so it does not try to eat the plastic.

She could just use the box filled with litter as kittens urine output is a lot less than a full grown cat and most likely wont leak through. Put the box on a hard plastic such as a dish drainer pan or similar.

  8. any type of cardboard box would be fine.  just cut down the sides down so its not to tall for the cat to get in and out and not to low for the litter to fall out.  put the box in a trash bag and then add the litter that way the urine and stuff wont soak thru the box and get on the floor.

    tell her good luck
