I'm in cheerleading and I'm totally not flexible. I have a short upper torso and a long (very long) lower torso. I'm 5"9 and I need a way of improving my split jumps for cheerleading. Does anyone know a way ? Please help me. Any good stretches or anything ?

  1. well first work on your flexibility. some stretches you can do are not made by me and i haven't tried them but i have heard they work. like getting 4 chairs, all facing forward like into a circle. make it big enough so you can stretch your legs all the way and go down into the spilts.

the other two chairs are for you to put your hands down to keep steady.

after you have gotten into the splits make sure you stretch your hamstrings.

then if you have a trampoline start jumping on that if you dont then just practice your jumps in the mirror so you can see how far you still have to go.

sooner or later your going to have to incorperate jumping and the splits and if you do these excersises chanses are you will improve.

  2. ple-a alot right before you go into the air.

    :]

    good luckk

  3. Work your abs. It makes you jump higher which makes your jumps look better. Also, constantly STRETCH over and over and over. Anytime you have free time.

  4. Yah, I had this problem too. What I did to help it was improve my splits just on the floor. I went as far as i could go into a split, then you look at the ceiling and stay there for a minute. (No looking down or getting out of that position for exactly 60 fair seconds if you want to improve! Count to 60)  for each split. (And suck in your tummy to get tighter abs! It will also help you in the future with all of your stretches)  i did that for about a week and a half every single day. i made time to do it and you just have to practice also. But it might take more time for different people.

    Good luck! (:
