I have symantec antivirus, which is through my university. It looks scary, but I am learning how to do it. I am trying to set this program to scan after file transfer. For example, in AIM, there is a box that said check here to scan files after transfer, so I check it and then there is a box where I have to point where the antivirus program is. So I click browse and navigate over to C:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus and there are like 8 .exe files. So which one do I pick so the file would be scanned and what parameters am i suppose to set?

  1. Most malwares are designed to attack popular

antivirus products (like Symantec, Norton), but since free anti-virus

product is much less used, it's capable of fighting the viruses when

    industry leaders fail.

Symantec/Norton are also responsible for BSOD ( Blue Screen Of Death )

My company use Symantec and recently encounter many virus that Symantec cannot detect. I have to use Clamwin Anti-virus to find these virus and sent the virus samples to Symantec.

So for your case, I would recomend that you use Clamwin.

ClamWin is a Free Antivirus for Microsoft Windows

that uses the GNU General Public License by the Free Software

Foundation and is free (as in freedom) software.

Remember to update the latest anti-virus definition files

and set the preferences to delete or move virus to a quarantine folder.
