Question:

Make-up: Liquid or powder?

I'm in my 20's and never worn make-up often, just for special occasions. I have some areas I would like to cover up due to sun exposure.

What type of make-up is best for the face? Liquid or powder?

Thanks!

  1. I find that powder does not give me enough coverage - but i'm a little older than you (by about 5 years or so) and I also tend to break out.  Problem is I like the way powder looks.  I have a young son and just don't spend a lot of time on makeup so I found a great alternative to using liquid AND powder to get that nice finish.  It's called liquid to powder makeup.  I personally like the cover girl "Ultimate finish" line and it's not expensive - it's quick to put on and easy to take in a purse or diaper bag.

The same company also has one called "CG smoothers aquasmooth" - I haven't tried it yet, but it looks good too.

    Good luck.

  2. It depends on your skin type and what brand you are using.  I suggest both if your skin is oily and you have some flaws.  If you are dry, you can get away with liquid only.  If you are dry, try Clinique's makeup for dry skin.  If you are oily, IMO, Boots Stay Perfect liquid and Neutrogena Pressed Mineral Powder are great.

  3. depends on the coverage you need on the face. My advice would be to get a trial at MAC or Clinique or any other departmental store counters and you can see what works better.

Usually during the day I use only powder, for evenings- sometimes I use liquid..

  4. Okay i use both, alot of makeup artists recommend using both too. I first put on a liquid base then i dab concealor on blemishes, then i use loose powder to finish. If you are looking to cover areas on your skin that you dont want to be noticed, then i recomend using both. dont put tooo much that could look cakey. and be careful when using concelor, you could try putting that on before the liquid foundation. Sometimes concelor can just make that area stand out more. so you want to make sure you look even, if that makes sense, lol. Oh and as far as a brand, if your willing to spend about $20 on liquid foundation then clinic works great. I

  5. i actually use both. I use the liquid first and then thhe same shade powder over it. I read somewhere that you should do that i think. i forgot where though. It covers up all of my blemishes and makes my face look great.

i love all of those my my favorite is the tru blend from covergirl so since you dont wear makeup alot it will be perfect because  it doesnt look like you have anything on it looks totally natural and the tru blend comes in mineral makeup, powder, and concealer  :]]

  7. Try a pressed mineral powder.

    - With pressed mineral powder you can layer in the areas that you need more coverage,

    - minerals are light reflective so they have a much wider colour tolerance, blend easier with the skin and give you that nice healthy glow.

    - Plus most good quality mineral powders have at least SPF 15 which will help protect your skin from the sun

Personally I have used Jane Iredale and Cover Fx and loved both!
