Question:

Make your own diapers.....please help

I am wanting to make my own cloth diapers, with the PUL (polyurithane laminate) on the outside (so I guess it would be an all in one?) I called around locally and apparently no one in town carries PUL fabrics. Does anyone know a cheap place to buy them, or how I can make my own waterproof?? I am going to be using these for my son who is pottytraining....I thought they would be easier to use than just a regular underpant in case of an accident, but to buy the kind I am wanting, they are like $20 each....so I want to make them, but I am on a budget....any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!!

  1. I was going to recommend the mama bird diaper pattern, but when I googled it her site was temporarily down.  If you try back later though, it's the pattern that I use.  She has patterns for AIO, pocket, and regular cloth fitted diapers.

Google PUL fabric, there's a couple of sites, like http://www.celticclothswholesale.com/ or http://www.verybaby.com/ccp0-catshow/sol...  It's still not cheap, and averages about $9 a yard.

The regular cloth fitted diapers cost me about $4 a diaper to make.  I use super flannel and terry for the soaker.

You'll also have to purchase a bunch of Aplix hook-and-loop tape and fold over elastic.

  2. ok ..i do not know about PUL....but my daughter is 25 yrs old..

why not buy a dozen of cloth diapers from...say sears....or go to

COTTON BABIES>COM....use with rubber pants over the cloth

diapers. i thought most moms should always have a dozen for times

when sometimes paper diapers gives rash.

now you can just say  u r going green!

  3. i dont know where to buy them but i also made my own diaper pants. my son wore regular underwear at home and put these diaper pants over them. they are made of plastic so you can wash and use them over and over again.the design is that of a girls underpants but 4 size bigger than your sons size, with elastic waist bands, elastic legs.i had a regular sewing machie and sew them. i made 10 of these and the costing was 10 dollars only.i used them for a month.then i showed my son where to pee and bought him a fancy toilet .
