Makeup Artist Question?

if you owned and or worked at a make-up store and was an artist, say chanel, MAC, lacoste etc etc how much money would you make? is it a good paying job?

  1. I work for myself, and do workshops in women's homes to teach them about their colouring. I am able to charge workshop fees, because it is a consultation, and then they buy the makeup and colour swatches as well. I also hire my services for weddings and travel to where they are getting ready.

    Working for stores, you only usually get paid as a retail assistant.

  2. Between $10-15 as a sales person. Managers make between $15-20. Working at a counter or store you really are considered a sales person just as much as you are a makeup artist. You might want to consider freelancing (weddings, proms etc). You make a lot more money in shorter periods of time. It's less stressful too because you don't have to worry about being fired if you don't reach a sales goal.
