Makeup artists / anyone - PLEASE HELP!!! ?

I love mineral foundation because liquid foundation irritates my sensitive skin and breaks me out. However, I am having trouble getting the right colour. I was using bare escentuals 'fairly light' which makes me look too yellow, so I tried Maybelline in 'Ivory Rose' - this looks good in normal life but makes me look ghostly white in photos and lighter than my neck and body.

The trouble with me is I have a slightly sallow olive undertone in my skin but at the same time I am very fair / white. What I wish to do is irradicate any yellow in my skin tone, which makes it look dull. I want my skin to be fair and clear but also have some warmth..maybe I need a pinky undertone..I just hate the yellow undertone as it makes me look dull.

Can u guys give me any advice? I was thinking of going to Prescriptives today as they can custom blend mineral foundation. Any tips or advice?

  1. Being a makeup artist, yellow undertones are best on almost everybody, it is what evens you out, pink usually is what makes people have that strange pinkish head. I never like pink undertones on people. However, I highly recommend you try the faerie organic mineral sample kit, (its free) it beats bare escentuals by miles in quality and price. If you are fair they send you 3 colors to try, from the sounds of it the fair foundation would be perfect on you. You never ever want to color your face with your foundation that is a big mistake people make, your face needs to match your neck, from there you would use a fake tanner, I use the "faux tan" from faerie organic and brush it on the cheekbones, forehead and sides of nose after applying the foundation, it really warms you up yet your neck will still match your face! I highly recommend you try it, because if you find that you like to mix 2 of their colors, being a custom company (like prescriptives) they will also custom make you your own color for you to permanently buy. You can check it out here...http://www.faerieorganic.com

  2. You can custom blend any mineral makeup together yourself, you will just have to mix it until it matches.

I just recently switched from bare minerals to everyday minerals though, they have 33 colors of foundation to choose from and 4 finishes - matte, semi-matte, intensive and glo. It has the same ingredients as bare minerals minus the bismuth oxychloride which can irritate some peoples' skin and make others oily.

I received my free sample kit and have tried the semi-matte, intensive and matte. I like the semi-matte (favorite) and matte better than bare minerals but the intensive less than bare minerals, it was heavier. In the FAQ section it compares foundation colors to celebrities so you can choose the colors to try more easily. I only had to pay $3 in shipping.

Go to http://www.everydayminerals.com and then makeup > custom kits > free sample kit. You then just drag the ones you want to try to the cart.

I'm glad I got to try 3 colors because medium beige was perfect, sandy medium wasn't quite the right color and golden medium is just off. I'm going to like only having to pay $12 for a same size container as the $30 bare minerals.

  3. Try blending two colors. Like a shade thats too yellow, and a shade thats too dark. Thats what my friend had to do. Her skin sounds close to yours.

  4. You should go on the MK website and pick out a shade or contact a Beauty Consultant and they will go to your house or meet you somewhere public and allow you to try different colors to find the perfect match. They have an awesome Mineral loose powder and pressed powder to choose from. Hit them up! The link below is where you can receive free Beauty advise but this link -
