I am 6'0" and weigh 140. I am 13 years old and have only played for my city. I am one of the best players. I am going into high school and will tryout this year. I can bench 135 and I workout 5 times a week. Everyone doubts that I will make D-1 but it's my dream. My jumpshot isn't so good but I can drive in and I am pretty strong what do you think the odds are of me making D-1?

  1. Of course there's a chance. You just have to work really really hard.  I wouldn't get involved in AAU until after your sophomore year. Getting Better > Getting Seen. If you're great, they will find you. Plus, after you're sophomore year if you've really worked on your game and really improved, and then you play AAU, you'll stand out and be seen by coaches. I'd just really focus on working on your individual game before you start playing a million summer games. 4 years is a long time, just focus on improving yourself.

  2. I think that you will make the team becase they will see that you are a tall thirtenn year old and that you cna be a help to the team so they will put you at Power Forward so that you can still shoot a little bit. Because you probably are a good shooter. So you keep on practicing till school starts you will make the team. But make sure not to be lazy and sit around all summer so that you get in bad shape cause  then you probably wont make the team.

  3. See if you can get involved with an AAU team in your area as well as your high school team.  That will get you some exposure.  Also, attend basketball camps of the nearest D1 school or the D1 school you may be interested in playing at.

  4. First off where u live. If u live in a small state or a non popular state it will very difficult to make it to d1. However I like your chances if you work hard and continuesly for the next 4 years. Work on that jump shot and play as much as u can and play as many league as u can cause experiance means everything. If u do then I like your chances.

  5. Are you seriously asking that question as a 13 year old who hasn't even played High School basketball???

Dude, there's a senior in my school who was the most dominant junior high basketball player in our region. He was 6'2" and wrecking JV as an 8th grader!

Five years later, he's disappeared off the basketball map. Instead, he's going to play D1 BASEBALL at St. John.

Seriously, you can be far ahead of the game as a freshman but four years is a lot of time for others to develop and for you to stagnate.
