I need more room in my home and i have a VERY big room that all my boys [ages 13,10,5] want to share. Their beds are small, so that is no situation, the situation is they all have different tastes. I wanted to make it with their favorite sports. But my 13 year old likes Football & The Jets, My 10 year old likes Hockey and the islanders, and my 5 year old likes Baseball and the Mets. I was thinking that i can get Jets sheets & comforters for the bed,Islander bed set,and Mets bed sets. Maybe i can do a mixture of it on their wall!. I need help, BADLY. I'm in total confusion. Please help! No pointless answers like " i don't know look online". Please help, once again.Thanks.

  1. Start with the bones.  Most of your issues can be solved with paint.  Personally, I would start with bold colors on the walls.  Perhaps a blue, red, yellow and green stripe pattern.  Large stripes.  Then simply place the boy's beds wherever you plan to, and make each boy's "area" suited to himself.  For example, the pictures around Mr. 13 can be about Football.  Maybe a football shaped shelf (yes, they have them, lol) above his bed to hold his stuff (I would probably be ambitious if I said books).  Mr. 10 can have the same as Mr. 13, except in hockey.  Mr. 5 can have the same but in baseball.  It's a sports the,e room, but each one has his own "sport" near his bed.

    Here's some links with ideas:

Doing simple things like using cheap baseball bats as a headboard are easy.  Cutting a football and gluing it so that is surrounds the base of a lamp you already have is easy.

You can even blow up some of those rubber balls shaped like baseballs, footballs, soccer balls and hang them from the ceiling.

I mean, we are talking about three boys who love sports and are under the age of ten.  You can make it as crazy as you want to!  It's not for Better Homes and Gardens.

  2. Hold on a minute.  Are you sure that they want sports stuff in their rooms?  Maybe they don't really care.  But anyway, getting the sports bedding is fine.  The rest of the room can be cooridnated and look great, even with the mismatched bedding.

Why don't you get them each a corkboard that they can put their stuff on.  They can put their baseball stuff and other things there.

And lastly, have you sat down and talked to them?  They can give you the advice on what you want, which will make decorating much easier.

  4. I watched this show that did a room for three boys and this is the link  http://www.hgtv.com/decorating/cosmic-bo...   it has a space theme, but i loved the way they had the boys names over the beds, and lines between the beds, so they have very definate 'own spaces'. Maybe as you say you could go with the sports sheet of their choice and do the lines between and maybe get a jersey of their sport with their name on it to hang over their bed? (or something sports associated, as to the rest of the room, i would leave it in one colour that is common to all their teams, and if there isn't one, pick any colour that ISN'T in any of their team colours. For the rest, I'd get something like this.....  (if finances allow) -the pic that says "stylish lockers for the kids" http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/home_impro... you can pick lockers up on ebay fairly cheaply and its fantastic for sporty boys of course, and you can spray paint them to suit the room. That gives a sporty feel to the room without needing to dramatically decorate the walls with huge logo's or such, and no matter what style they end up with the lockers will always be very useful (even in the garage if they boys don't want them anymore).
