Question:

Making a Giro Payment to Sweden from a US Bank?

I need to pay my service provider's Giro (BankGiro or PlusGiro) account in Sweden (in SEK) by originating the payment from US in USD. The few US banks that I've checked with cannot do this as they only do Wire Transfers using ABA, SWIFT or IBAN codes (but not the Scandinavian PG or BG). Western Union and MoneyGram are out of question as the recipient is not a person who can walk up & collect.

"XE Trade" had at one time done transfers using Giro codes to Sweden, but not any more. Does anyone know of a financial institution in US that can transfer money to Sweden using a PG or BG code? Please answer from personal experience or quoting source on the web. Thanks in advance.

  1. No, I had the same issue when I lived in the States. I ended up having to send my mum (in Sweden) money and then she paid it in for me to their accounts.

Don't know how to help you...sorry.
