Making a blanket?

Question

I have never made one before

I want to make one for my boyfriends birthday

I know he would like it a lot

but I have no idea were to even start..and I have nothing to even start it with

does anyone have any ideas that can help me =-)

If I were you i would make a quilt.. depending on when his birthday is.. you can get some square blocks at Wal-Mart or any fabric store and make it unique like pictures of you two together, his college mascot, his hobbies, you can use transfer fabric stuff you can also buy at Walmart and transfer pics onto fabric. Then just sew the blocks together. Heres an example

Here is a link for a no-sew fleece blanket. I have seen these and they are awsome and really cozy.

Look in a fabric store for sales or specials or buy two matching throws at a inexpensive store and use this method for joining.

I think the best thing to do is to go to a fabric store and buy fleece fabric.  There are many colours and patterns available.  It doesn't fray and so you won't need to sew a hem.  Ask the clerk there how much to buy for a blanket.  If they are nice,they will even show you which ones are the best price.

First of all, how much time do you have before his birthday?  Are you planning to sew it, knit or crochet?  This makes a big difference in giving you an answer as some have told you about sewing and you just may not do that.  Please contact me and I'll see what I can find for you as there are a couple of things you can make in a relatively short time.
