So im starting college next week, and im a bit nervous (never been good at socialising), im 19 now so ill be a bit older than most of the other students - but i can drive :D, anyway, any tips to make a good first impression, cos i know we will have to do "ice breakers" i hate them. I hav to miss most of the first week due to work, so does this mean ill have to introduce myself on the second week, in front of everyone whose already done it! AHHHH!!!

  1. Heya, I am the same age and just finished college. College they treat you like an adult, it's not like school they won't make you stand up and introduce yourself. They will probably just say this is such and such joining us. Ice breakers? Your in a class room full of people doing the same thing, you have one thing in common. driving is always good to talk about as many of college students are thinking about lessons or learning. stop worrying your sorted!!!

    good luck

  2. Perhaps you should tell yourself that you are looking forward to this experience and prepare yourself a little first by making some notes that you can place in the  palm of your hand with some pertinent points that you want to talk about i.e. things that interest you plus some general things about yourself - you may find this an easier way to approach things - at the end of your introduction say - any questions and then they can ask away and that way you can dictate what you want them to know

It does not have to be complicated - it can be something simple like I am ..... from ..... I was born in ..... and lived most of  my life in .... went to school in ..... and I am here to study ...... and then maybe say what you like doing for enjoyment in your spare time, like maybe going to movies, watching basketball or whatever and then ask - any Q's - Now that wasn't that hard was it?
