Im just looking for my first real job, and I need some help making a resume. Im just a high school student, so I haven't had any other job experience other than babysitting and stuff.

Are there some good websites with templates?

Should I put my age on the resume?

Thanks!

  1. No don't put your age on your resume. http://www.bestemploymentresources.com will walk you thru all the steps from which format to use to writing an resume outline to writng a cover letter. Good luck

  2. No, you don't need to include your age. Most places that you will be able to work at require an application, but you could blow them away by handing them a resume at the interview :). Microsoft Word has resumee templates. When you print out your resumee, make sure that it is on high quality paper. here's a site that may be able to help:

    http://career-advice.monster.com/resume-...

also, when you are describing your past experience, make sure that you use powerful action verbs. Some examples are listed:

    integrated

    examined

    reviewed

    enabled

    familiarized

    mentored

    modified

    adapted

    streamlined

    restored

    implemented

    coordinated

    facilitated

It's never to soon to start writing a resume and its definitly never to soon to start looking for a job that requires one!

    Good Luck! :)

  3. You don't need a resume with the type of job you are looking for. All you do is dress nicely and go in to your local store in your neighborhood and ask for an application. But be careful since you are a minor. Ask your parents if they allow you to work because they have to sign the permit. Even if your parents allow you to work there is a law that limits to how long you can work. Minors can't work that many hours.

  4. While you probably won't need a resume for the job you are looking for, it never hurts to get started on one.  Check out this website for some helpful examples and templates: http://www.aie.org/highschool/jobs/sampl...

You'll be happy you got a jumpstart on developing your resume after you finish high school and are looking for a full-time job or entering college.
