Making a room bigger?

Hi!

Does anyone have any tips on how to make my room bigger; how to have more floorspace.

I've got rid of as much furniture as possible, I now have a wardrobe, single bed, chest of drawers, bedside table and a bookcase. I still have no room, just enough to move - argh!

Any advice?

Thanks.

My room is similar to this size: (Not my room)

  1. Well I'd suggest that you ask your contractor.

During the summer, is my most recommended time to do this.

Ask him to knock down a wall or two, if you want to enlarge the room.

What my parents did was we had a small teeny loft before, but now we enlarged it, but that made me and my brother's ceilings in our bedrooms lower so the loft could expand.

    That's just an example.

  2. A loft bed!

We built one for our teenage daughter and she loves it!

We actually used her waterbed frame and lifted it with a 4x4 lumber frame to make it extra sturdy.  She uses a regular twin-xlong mattress now and has room for a small sitting area under her bed with her TV, stereo and a couple of beanbag chairs.  Very cozy.  And it feels like a lot more space.

You can buy units like this premade - some have a desk under them.
