  1. No not at all,I love people from the North and the accent is beautiful!

  2. im from the republic. i like people from the north, as long as they dont start waving orange flags about the place. i hate most of the english though

  3. Nope, not at all. I think people that are need to get over themselves. If I hear a Belfast accent, I would never exclude someone. I like the northern accent, actually, although I find it a bit difficult to understand sometimes.

  4. Personally the only questions I see where people from the Republic are against people from the North are ones written by people outside Ireland.  I don't think you'll find too many people in the Republic who are anti people from the North.  If anything a lot of people would still like to see a united 32 county Republic of Ireland (BY PEACEFUL MEANS!! Before anyone jumps on this opinion - it's a nationalist opinion - not pro-violence, there is a big, big difference)

Why on earth would we exclude someone on the grounds of their accent? (except for Kilkenny people when they're playing us in a hurling match - up the Rebels!!)  That's like saying we'd exclude someone based on their race/skin colour/weight/height ie it's rubbish.

  5. I'm from Dublin. No, i would never exclude somebody from the north. I have loads of mates all from different parts of the north.

  6. Not at all. I have friends, and  relations from the North. As far as people in the Republic are concerned we are all Irish. We get on very well wherever we meet. I have been on holiday and met people from the North and we still write and visit. We do wish to see our Nation as one unit, be it a Unitary or Federal agreement.

  7. Absolutely not, but I know people that are... not really "against", but not too friendly. Still I don't think most people would discriminate someone from Belfast.

  8. nah I'm not against the ones from the North, but I'd prefer it too be part of the Republic. That said, its not worth starting up the fighting again.

The only thing that I have against them is friendly rivalry from the hurling and the football (boo Tyrone!)

  9. no,i don't care where anyone's from as long as they are a nice person. so therefore if they're from northern ireland and a nice person i wouldn't exclude them from a group, but if they're from nothern ireland and not a nice person i would exclude them from a group,it's got othing to do with where a person's from it's to do with their personality.

  10. one big happy family....

  11. im from the South

    Catholic

    LOVE the North

    tis fantastic

    if only it was'nt english

    and no i would'nt

    i love Northern accents

    :D

  12. Do people really do that?

I would never excude anyone and neither would anyone else I know because someone is from the North I've got no problem with them

  13. Basically I would have to ascertain whether the person from Northern Ireland considered themselves British or Irish, because then I'd have an idea of what kind of stance they would have in relation to mine.

I don't have anything against anyone from the North, in my dealings with them I have found them to be courteous and friendly. I do find the accent a little difficult to understand at times, especially when they have been drinking, but then everyone is hard to understand when they've been drinking.

I'm more like to exclude someone from a group who is so intoxicated that no-one has a clue what he's saying and even he can't remember the evening when he wakes up the next morning. And this has nothing whatsoever to do with where they are from.

  14. Absolutely not, We're all Irish. I have family in Portadown and visit there regularly as I have done all my life so I think I may have more of an understanding than other people in the South. Certainly, I know people that while I wouldnt say they are against people from the North they just dont feel they have a lot in common with them.

In my opinion this is the common misconception and is totally down to Ignorance on their part. I wouldnt worry about it, there'll alway be ignorance. I feel the majority of us in The South dont have that opinion and are as welcoming and friendly to anyone from any part of Ireland.

  15. Im not against anyone from the north, dont know anyone who is either!

from Waterford...ive a few friends from belfast, love the accent actually!

  16. I am from Cork, so when i hear a Belfast accent, its like music to my ears.... the cork accent is rather... um .... well its just not very easy on the ears....

  17. no way i would never exclude people from the north ever! they are still irish and humans for that matter! however there are some dodgy areas in dublin that you probably shouldnt broadcast the fact.. unless you dont like england and disagree with the union! but overall you should have no problems in fact  people will be more interested in you cos of the accent!
