Making acall on pay phone?

how long can you talk on it for, if me and my friend were talking for like 8 minutes on it how much money did he put in

It really depends on "whose" pay phone you are using, who the carrier is, and which carrier is providing the long distance call routing.

There is no standard fee - it just depends on who owns the payphone.  

Pay phones can now be privately owned (for example a restaurant, bar, drug store, grocery store, etc., can now own their own pay phones) and the rates are programmable into the payphone.

I rather would use a calling card...its much cheaper, and you don't have to worry about putting money in the machine!!

if it was a local call he put in 35cents  if it was long distance he paid $2.35

I've talked on a pay phone for more than 8 minutes and I only put a quarter in. They probably cut you off after like an hour or so. Not sure, but I know you can talk for more than 8 minutes.
