Making an iq test for school?

Do you think that making an IQ test for school is a little ridiculous? (For 7th/8th graders) I thought only pros made those. Our teacher is studying them and trying to make one so he's making us do one. :( I'm totally clueless on how to go about this... Can someone help me? ^_^
