Making friends in Abu Dhabi?

Question

I'm 25years old male, moving from the States to Abu Dhabi soon, I was wondering what is the best way to meet people and to make new friends there? bars? clubs? Gym?

some people suggested using online dating? what do you guys think? are there any famous dating sites people use there?

not sure if gyms or clubs are the best places to make friends,  u will probably make friends among yr workmates, i think online dating sites are blocked there but not sure as havent lived there for a few years, u may find the american community have some social clubs and things there, ask around when u get there or try the american consulate they may be able to help u.  good luck in yr new life.

The best place to make friends is to visit pubs where the music isn't that loud so you can talk to each other.

Most Expats who visit Gyms have membership with one of the hotels. This can get a bit expensive just to make friends.

I would recommend the Pub Captain Arms at the Meridien Village. It's full of Expats (also many Americans). That's where many guys meet and start their Thursday night. From there they will then decide where else to go.

Abu Dhabi is a "village". If you go to one place on a regular basis you always will run into the same people. Oneline dating is not necessary at all.

edit Vinod 2008: what's wrong with making friends in a pub? That's where you meet people. With your collegues you stay around all day. Why do you want to see the same people after work? This can be nice but........let this guy go out, meet Americans and get interdruced to other people.

If you live in Abu Dhabi you should know that there are places where you go to meet prostitutes and there are places where people just socilize. Capt. Arms and PJ's are the best places. If I would be an American I would prefer Captain Arms to meet people and make friends.

hello friend, There is alot of places to find friends in Abu dhabi, try going to clubs, cafes, gym, or swimming pools, you will find alot of friendly ppl

At first Online Dating sites are banned here by isp provider. So no need to look into that matter.

Obviously you will get good friends from your workplace, or you can find your social and cultural organizations (americans) or clubs etc...

Do you think the pubs and gyms are good for making good friends??? 100% sure that "NO"
