Making international phone calls?

i cant seem to figure it out. i have to call an international phone number for a help desk but i cant figure out the number. what they say to dial is +49 (0)221 177 38 954 and im from australia and that dial out is 0011. but i cant work it out. it never works, just starts beeping as if call has disconnected. i am able to make international calls from from my home phone, so that shouldnt be the problem. can someone with experience in this pls help me!

  1. If this is the number they gave you then this is the number you should dial. You will however need to drop the starting zero used only within Germany: 0011 + 49 + 221 177... If dialing from a cell phone you can also replace the 0011 with the + sign.


  2. You are trying to call a mobile phone number in Germany. You don't need to dial area/city code (221 - Cologne) when you call a mobile phone in Germany.

    Dial 0011 49 177 38 954. I am sure it will work.
