Ive been googling this question for 2 days with no luck, i have LED lights in my car, i bought a new stereo and i want the lights to pulse with the music but i want to do all of the wiring before i install the new stereo, so i will use my ipod as the input for the music. i have tried hooking the led directly to the speaker wire, no go, alot of people say hook them to the amp, but i wont do that, id like it to be a safe and reliable hook up while still keeping it free and home made. please help! i appreciate any answer.

  1. Led lights will blink with the music...if you just hook them up to the speaker wires...try it,I used to do this all the time when I was younger.

  2. Well the only way you can get it to work like that for free is if someone gave it to you. You cant hook up the lights to the speaker wire because the voltage is to low and to inconsistent. You can hook it up to the Remote control spot on your amp and it will pulse, but i did this and it worked but blew out the string light and led i was using to test it about a month later from it constantly pulsing cuz it wasnt not cutting the voltage like pulsing devices do, it would just pulse from the voltage drop from the bass (meaning the pulse was backwards the harder the bass hit the dimmer it got). I decided to buy a device from Advance Auto that pulses from the noise level for about 10 dollars, and it works fine i still have it

  3. There is no free method to hook up LEDs so they pulse with music, hooking them direct to the amp is not a good method and will not give you the results you want. The correct way to accomplish this is with a "music interface". StreetGlow sells one that costs about $30. Here is a link. They are sold out on the StreetGlow site but you can find them elsewhere. I found one on ebay for $20 shipped.

No there is no free way to make a "music interface", making your own would cost the same and would not have all the options.

  4. honestly your just better off ordering this http://www.newegg.com/product/product.as... you can hook up all the lights you want to the box that it comes with and turn off and on and how sensitive it is i have a green one in my car and it works great just 10 bucks and if you wanna use the light it comes with they have different colors
