i have an acer laptop its an extensa. i used to have a different acer but it broke so i just got this new one this summer.

i was just wondering if there was a way to increase the volume on it. i use powerdvd to play dvds (this summer ive mostly been using it for watching movies) and i feel like maybe it sounds softer now. is there any way i could make the volume louder? a program i could use or something? or if i take it to a computer tech can they do something to it to make it louder? would it be expensive?

  1. u can use software named k lite codec pack,, in that audio codec u can increase the volume more than 100%

  2. First of all don't take it to a tech guy that would charge you. You can increase the volume buy reading on how to configure you laptop off the internet for free.

    Goto ->

    Control Panel

    Sound

    In the playback tab select your audio device the properties

    Then Enhancements, in that tab you can either disable "loudness equalisation" or (which I prefer) "disable all sound effects"

    I am assuming that you have vista because of the age of the extensa.

  3. In a typical PC, there is usually three individual volume control: The speaker, Windows Setting, and the programs settings. In a laptop, the speaker's volume control is usually merged with Windows' setting, so you only have two spots to look out. In a typical laptop, they usually have volume control button somewhere on the body or the keyboard, or you could use Windows' volume control, in the task bar on the bottom right. Then look out for the volume control on the program itself, usually in the shape of a speaker or a bar.

    If it's still too soft, then either you use a separate speaker (most if not all laptops have a jack for external speaker) or you just have to stand closer (most laptop's speaker are designed for personal use, it can't be heard clearly more than a few metres away)

    If you can't understand any of this, just bring your laptop to a computer literate friend.
