I've seen cooking shows where the chefs add something to the pan and the inside of the pan goes on fire. What is it that they pour? What other things can be done to produce the same result? Can it be done on a electric stove? Thanks in Advance.

  1. Rum or brandy

  2. Most likely brandy but any kind of high proof alcohol will work. The pan has to be very hot and you need to have a flame, it won't work with an electric stove. If that's what you have you'll need a match but be careful, you can set yourself or your house on fire!!

  3. The term your referring to is flambe.

Here's a website with info and instructions.
