Express the given quantity as a single logarithm.

ln(5) + 2 ln(3)

I try to make it one, but other's say it's wrong...

  1. ln(5) + 2 ln(3)

    = ln 5 + ln 3^2

    = ln 5 * 2^3

    = ln 5 * 8

    = ln 40

    ln a + ln b = ln ab

    and

    ln (a)^b = b ln a

    so...

    ln 5 + ln (3)^2

    ln 5 + ln 9

    ln 45

    you can also check this on your calculator. Type ln 5 + 2ln 3, hit enter, it's some number. Then type ln 45. They should be equal to the same number.

  3. ln(5) + 2 ln(3) = ln(5) + ln(9) = ln(45)  

  4. ln5 + ln3^2=ln5x9=ln45=3.40
