Question:

Making up a creation myth?

But my teacher said it didn't have to be an actual creation story....so I thought about how when you look into someones eyes you can "see" their soul...I want to do a myth about where that saying came from and such...

Does anyone have any other ideas?

  1. IDK, but it should involve chocolate and a jellyfish!!! :)

  2. Creation myths are great fun to do. Do some research on other creation myths - African, Asian and Aboriginie tales in particular.

Just look at the elements of nature like the sea, valleys, stars - think of unusual or original ways they could have got there. For instance, perhaps say that before humans, the world was swarmed with enormous beasts - perhaps their movements carved the shape of the land, or that after humans arrived a curse was put on all the animals so that they lay down where they were and fell into slumber, their bodies creating the shapes of the mountains and lowlands.

For the 'seeing soul' one... hmm... perhaps  back with the 'first people' or whoever your creation myth talks about, people's pupils were silver and when you looked into them you could feel the person's soul and hear their thoughts, and know what kind of person they are. Then one individual abuses it somehow, or angers some higher power, and humans can no longer look truly into others' souls through the silver windows, and are cursed forever with black pupils to remind them of the miscreant's black deed.

Something like that. Creation myths are a creative enterprise, so just have fun!
