one way to make vinegar is to prepare a solution of acetic acid, the sole component of vinegar, at the proper pH and add appropriate flavoring agents. Acetic acid is a liquid at 25 degrees C, with a density of 1.049g/ml. Calculate the volume that must be added to distilled water to make 1 L of simulated vinegar.

the right answer is 3.3 mL, but i cant get to that, and ive been trying. Anybody would like to help

  1. I can't either. Table vinegar is typically 5% (v/v) acid by volume (range 4 to 8%). 5% by volume of 1 liter is 50 mL acetic acid. 5% (w/v) would be 47.7 mL acetic acid.
