Maksym Shemberev captures Men’s 400m IM crown: 2011 FINA World Junior Championships
Day five of the 2011 FINA World Junior Championships began in scintillating fashion with an inspiring splash of Ukraine’s Maksym Shemberev in Individual Medley race in Lima, Peru, on Saturday, August 20.
The session of the meet conducted Men’s 400m Individual Medley final, in which Shemberev hit the wall in 4 minutes and 15.64 seconds to win the gold medal. After the final meet, Shemberev was really excited and pleased with his swim.
Meanwhile, Xiang Li of China took home silver medal on the podium by submitting a matchless time of minutes and 17.00 seconds and Kosuke Hagino of Japan snared bronze medal with an impressive mark of 4 minutes and 17.15 seconds.
In the meantime, Josh Prenot of United States of America was placed fourth with an impressive mark of 4 minutes and 18.44 seconds and Great Britain’s Ian Matthew Johnson was placed fifth in a time of 4 minutes and 18.54 seconds. In the corresponding meet,
Chase Kalisz of United States of America earned sixth place honours after touching the wall with a time of 4 minutes and 23.78 seconds.
Alec Page of Canada settled seventh with a time of 4 minutes and 24.67 seconds. Last, but not the least, Brayden Salmon of Canada earned eighth place honours after the team thrashed the finishing blockade with a time of 4 minutes and 27.87 seconds.
Additionally, the Women’s 4x100m freestyle relay crown was taken over by United States with a winning mark of 3 minutes and 42.85 seconds. USA’s squad was consisted of Kristen Vredeveld, Simone Manuel, Rachel Acker and Lia Neal. Canada captured silver title
with a sterling time of 3 minutes and 43.24 seconds, whereas, Great Britain grabbed bronze medal after the team touched the finishing wall in the respective meet with a time of 3 minutes and 45.99 seconds. The British team comprised of Amelia Maughan, Emma
Saunders, Emily Jones and Jessica Lloyd.
The efforts of athletes were appreciated by the arena, while the winners were awarded medals and accolades owing to their inspiring swims after the session’s completion.
