Malaga CF boss Manuel Pellegrini latest manager to be linked with the Chelsea job, Carlo Ancelotti linked with QPR
With the Chelsea manager’s seat vacant, there have been a host of manager’s linked with replacing recently sacked Carlo Ancelotti.
The Italian was sacked after the last game of the season, having failed to deliver any silverware in his second season at the club.
The highly unsuccessful and disappointing season came after Ancelotti led the Blues to their first ever domestic double.
His success in his first season at the club was completely disregarded as he was heartlessly sacked while still at Goodison Park.
Chelsea have now turned all their attention to finding a replacement for the 51-year-old Italian manager, refusing to comment on the candidates.
However, sources reveal that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-c23383 Pellegrini, the Malaga manager, is being considered as a possible option to take over the hot seat at Stamford Bridge.
The manager’s agent Jesus http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martinez-c24468 confirmed his client was among the candidates being considered for the Chelsea job.
Pellegrini’s agent said while speaking to reporters:
“It is normal for clubs without a coach, such as Chelsea through intermediaries, to start asking Pellegrini, but he is very comfortable at Malaga and has a contract there.
He has put a lot of effort into Malaga and is pleased and excited to work with the team.”
The 57-year-old Chilean manager took over La Liga side Malaga CF in 2010, signing a three year contract with the side.
Pellegrini was previously linked with taking over English Premier League side http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 and the Mexican national side, but he refused.
He has previously managed sides like River Plate, Villarreal and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Real-c30728 Madrid and despite the long term contract with Malaga; he would apparently consider a move abroad.
He led http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/River-Plate-c40368 to the Primera Division in 2003 and helped Villarreal to the UEFA Intertoto Cup and received the Miguel Munoz Trophy in 2008 for the Best Coach of the Year.
While he may not be the favorite to be appointed Chelsea manager for next term, he is definitely an option if the others are not available.
The other managers linked with the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 are Jose Mourinho, Guus Hiddink, Pep Guardiola, Andres Villas Boas and Marco Van Basten.
In the meantime, former Chelsea boss Ancelotti could be making his return to English football sooner than expected.
Reports reveal that recently promoted Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 are trying to lure the Italian manager to take up the manager’s post at the club.
Current QPR manager Neil Warnock could be facing the axe, despite leading the side to a Premier League promotion.
Warnock has reportedly had a fall out with the board, which could end his reign at the club and make way for a replacement.
The management at QPR have made no secret of their desire to land Ancelotti as their new manager.
The Italian himself has yet to speak on the unofficial offer. He did however, previously claim he wished to remain in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 and manage an English Premier League side.
