Malaga coach Manuel Pellegrini has questioned the attitude of two Spanish rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Both teams exhibited some dirty football during the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final. The tie was held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at the Santiago Bernabeu which Barcelona won by a 2-0 margin courtesy a brace from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296.
The former Los Blancos manager criticised the behaviour and approach of the two sides during that game and has asked them to settle down a bit prior to the second leg. He did hail the efforts of Barcelona striker Messi who was outstanding on the night and
scored twice in the space of 11 minutes to earn an important two away goal advantage for the Catalan giants.
Pellegrini said, “It was unfortunate. But everything, before the game, during the game - because it was a terrible game, and worse after the game. Football is getting out of the parameters that were common in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011.”
Both coaches had something to say to each other just before the game started and the pattern continued during the game as well. Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho received touch line sending off in the second half for continuously criticising the referee and
pointing fingers at Barcelona coach Josep Guardiola.
The 57-year-old Pellegrini made his way to Real Madrid in 2009 after managing another La Liga outfit Villarreal for five years. After serving the Whites for just one year, Pellegrini was handed over the responsibility of managing Malaga and joined the Spanish
club in 2010.
The former Villarreal man concluded, “I do not want to compare [Spain] with another country, but this is not the way [to act] since I have lived here. Never in the seven years I have been directing or before [with] amateur teams. Before, everything was more
focused on the pitch and less about the bickering.”
Both Real Madrid and Barcelona will lock horns again in the second leg of their semi-final tie on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Camp Nou.
The archrivals are once again expected to be involved in a lethal battle which could result in some more red cards.
