Malaga coach eyes victory over Real Madrid
Malaga coach Jesualdo Ferreira has revealed that he is desperate to upset the odds and defeat La Liga giants Real Madrid when Los Blancos visit La Rosaleda on Saturday (16 October).
Ferreira’s side have yet to win at home this season and, in Jose Mourinho’s side, have formidable opponents if they are to stop the rot this weekend. Madrid’s last match saw them thrash Deportivo de La Coruna 6-1 and will be looking to claim all three points
against Malaga.
However, Ferreira told Spanish newspaper AS that he would be upset even if his side picked up a point against one of the biggest clubs in Europe.
'I hate losing'
He said that: “I always want to win. If we were to draw or lose to Real Madrid, I would be just as disappointed if I lost to a less powerful team. Losing is one thing I hate. These are the easiest games to prepare for as a coach. They all want to play, and
I do not need to motivate the players. Mourinho will find it more difficult to have his players playing at 100%.”
Malaga will be looking to Venezuelan striker Jose Salomon Rondon to perform well and show that he can excel against the big teams.
Ferreira said of the 21-year-old that: “I think he has incredible ability, great humanity, and always wants to learn. He is aggressive, not afraid of anyone and defensively is also a valuable player for the team.”
Meanwhile, Ferreira spoke of the threat posed by Portugal winger Cristiano Ronaldo and Argentina forward Gonzalo Higuain to his players.
He said that: “They are two different kinds of players. Cristiano is very powerful, strong, and shoots very well, whereas Higuain is an attacker who is a very good finisher. The difference is that Higuain relies on the work of others, whereas Cristiano is
capable of relying upon himself.”
