Malaga boss, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-c23383 Pellegrini, was pleased with the performance of his team and thought they deserved the three points after their 4-0 win over Granada at the Rosaleda on Saturday.
Four goals from their midfield and striking force were enough to give the Andalusians a precious three points that makes them stay on the much coveted spot for the Champions League.
Two goals from Joaquin Sánchez and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Javier-Saviola-c18090 in the first-half enabled Malaga to take full control of the game. However, Pellegrini thought his opponents deserved to at least score a goal since they managed to create few clear cut chances during the
match.
The Andalusians sealed the fate of the visitors when another two goals in the last 15 minutes of the match were scored by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roque-Santa-Cruz-c31778.
“In the first half we scored two and had another two opportunities. But Granada also had three or four clear chances and really did deserve to score."
Pellegrini was even happier with the impressive performance his team displayed after the interval and believes Malaga were by far the superior team at the Rosaleda.
“In the second half though, we were the superior team and scored a further two goals.”
The Chilean tactician then shifted his thoughts to the fact that his team is doing better than they did last year at this time.
Malaga have had a great run in their first ever Champions League involvement. They have advanced to the last-16 of Europe’s most prestigious competition while being undefeated and on top of their group.
“We've now got 25 points in four games less than we did last year, and we're playing in the Champions League. We've been brilliant in the League and in Europe.”
Currently, they are sitting on the 4th spot with 25 points, thanks to their superior goal difference over Real Betis who also have the same number of points.
Action in Europe will not come before February and now it the perfect time for Malaga to cement themselves fully on the top four position and make sure they qualify for the Champions League next year.
