Malaga’s forward Eliseu successfully appeals against Villarreal red card
The Malaga winger Eliseu has successfully won his case after pleading innocent for the red card he was slapped with, therefore now the player is on list for the upcoming Malaga fixtures.
Now after winning the case, Eliseu’s suspension because of the red card has been revoked. Therefore the club will enter into their upcoming matches much more confidently.
In the match Eliseu was charged with an overly aggressive tackle on Villarreal’s defensive midfielder Carlos Marchena. The challenge was controversial and while the most lenient referee would have waved it off others would have
perhaps handed a yellow.
Malaga’s star Portuguese midfielder got the red card on the Monday fixture when Villarreal defeated Malaga 3-2. Media reports have informed that the match issue was taken care by the Competition Committee of the Professional Football
League (LFP).
Just before the break at the Rosaleda, the 26 year old forward Eliseu was ruled off the field for a tackle using his head when he furiously reacted to a tackle.
Eliseu head butted El Submarino Amarillo’s defender Carlos Marchena while playing in their La Liga tie. That resulted in Malaga being one man down and they eventually lost a close match.
Later it was confirmed that head butting was a reaction after the Spanish national team’s player was tackled by Marchena. Nevertheless the reaction by Eliseu was too aggressive and it was apparent that he had over reacted.
In the aftermath of this the Andalusian club formally submitted an appeal in the Competition Committee along with video evidence. They emphasized that no violent actions had actually taken place and proof of that was the video
footage.
As a result of that the final judgement was removal of the red card and instead that player was given a yellow card.
This now happens to be the second yellow card of Eliseu this season. Eliseu has joined Malaga this summer from Lazio after spending a year playing on loan at Zaragoza. He has so far scored just one goal in the 5 matches he has
played in.
