Question:

Malathion was used on our tree with problems?

I used Malathion on our trees/bushes/evergreens and one tree is losing its leaves. It was the first tree sprayed and I think the solution was too concentrated, the leaves got brown spots, turned yellow and fell of (about 50%). It is a young tree (4years old) known as a Cherry Kwanzan. May I ask what to expect for next year, did I do permanent damage?

  1. Unless you GREATLY exceeded labeling instructions, a big no-no,  you probably didn't do permanent damage to a 4 year old Kwanzan Cherry tree. It's not evergreen, so you could strip the leaves to avoid further trans-location.

I'm not sure why the firs application would be stronger unless the unit has a down tube and you didn't agitate properly. I always add the diluent (water) to the concentrate.
