Malaysia International Challenge: Pakkawat Vilailak tames Wei Sheng Lo to reach into semi-final
Thailand’s in-form player Pakkawat Vilailak continued his roller-coaster run and reached into Men’s Singles semi-final after showing exit to his local rival Wei Sheng Loh in quarter-final clash at Maybank Malaysia International Challenge on Friday, November
16, in Malaysia.
The un-seeded Pakkawat, who remained aggressive in the whole tournament, played with terrific precision and managed to end up the winning run of his higher ranked opponent Wei Sheng by working hard for just 36 minutes.
Pakkawat was on a different level as he showed great confidence in the arena and he did not face any tough opposition from his rival all the way to end up the contest in straight sets with a comfortable margin.
In the meanwhile, the 13th seeded Wei Sheng give a good fight in the opening set but he failed to remain consistent on court and failed to avoid defeat from his rival’s hands in two sets.
In the first set, both shuttlers showed a thrilling fight but Pakkawat did not let his Malaysian rival to set up a comfortable lead at the openings stage.
Until the one-minute break, Pakkawat managed to stay in lead without showing any respect to his opponent and remained successful in winning a wonderful lead until the break.
After the mid-game break, Thai shuttler remained fully focused in the arena and commanded rallies all the way to end up the opening set with a tight 21-19 score on the board.
In the second game of this quarter-final battle, Pakkawat became aggressive in the opening points and he did not lose his control over the pace of rallies.
Until the one-minute break, the lower ranked Pakkawat remained consistent in playing with precision and took a comfortable lead until the one-minute interval.
Wei Sheng tried his best to live up to the expectations of his home fans but he failed to find finishing touch in his shots and remained struggling.
In the ending half, Pakkawat kept his rival moving around in all areas and remained successful in clinching the set in an amazing manner with a huge margin of 21-11.
The in-form Pakkawat won this quarter-final battle against Wei Sheng in straight games with a dominating 21-19 and 21-11 score on the board.
