Indonesia’s Sony Dwi Kuncoro showed his upper class in the game as he tamed Malaysia’s Beng Hong Kuan in Men’s Singles first round at Malaysia Open GP Gold on Wednesday, May 2, in Malaysia.
The World Number 72 Kuncoro, who has been struggling hard to get rid of a series of injuries for the last two years, found a good start at the Malaysia Open as he registered an easy win over his local opponents.
Kuncoro was too strong for Beng Hong as he played flawless badminton and did not face any resistance from the Malaysian in the whole contest. He won the battle in two games with a one-sided score.
On the other hand, Beng Hong tried to play competitive badminton against his Indonesian opponent but failed to live up to expectations and lost his fight to Kuncoro in straight games.
The experienced Indonesian started his campaign in a commanding way as he dictated the pace of rallies from the starting points and remained ahead on the board.
In the meanwhile, Beng Hong could not play his normal game as he failed to match the pace of rallies and remained struggling.
Until the break, Kuncoro was leading the game in a convincing margin as he established a huge gap of 11-5 on the board.
After the interval, Kuncoro continued his positive and impressive run in the court as he did not let his Malaysian rival to take charge of rallies.
The Indonesian took advantage in the match by taking the opening set with a one-sided 21-11 score on the board.
In the second game, it was Kuncoro who played attacking badminton without showing even a slight mercy to his Malaysian opponent.
Kuncoro was miles ahead of his opponent by reaching at 11-3 until the one-minute break.
After the interval, Beng Hong tried to put up good show by increasing his speed in all areas of the court but he failed to disturb the flow of his Indonesian rival who was perfect in the court.
The Indonesian player remained positive in the entire set and took it easily with a comprehensive score of 21-11.
Kuncoro emerged as the winner against Beng Hong in this Men’s Singles first round clash with a one-sided margin of 21-11 and 21-11.
