Indonesia’s upcoming shuttler, Tommy Sugiarto, shows his impressive skills as he has trounced Korea’s Shon Wan Ho in Men’s Singles first round of Malaysia Open Super Series 2012 at National Sports Complex, Kuala Lumpur, on Wednesday, January 11.
Sugiarto has been delivering wonderful performances for the last one year and has achieved an elevated world ranking by reaching at number 18. He played fabulous game against the Korean in the first-round contest of Malaysia Open and won it in straight games.
The Indonesian showed his elite skills to Wan Ho who could not put up strong show and played negative badminton in the whole match. Sugiarto was focused in the game and emerged as the winner in an easy fashion by taking just 37 minutes.
In the starting rallies of first game, Sugiarto played smart badminton and remained successful in creating a remarkable lead. His incredibly sharp reflexes and perfect stroke placement did not spare any chance for the Korean to level the score.
Until the one-minute break in the first game, Sugiarto was miles ahead of Wan Ho as he established a superb lead of 11-3.
In the following half of the opening game, the Indonesian played relaxed but fast badminton and did not let his opponent to dominate the rallies.
Wan Ho was lacking the aggression and played negative badminton in the whole opening game. Sugiarto took the first set with a remarkable margin of 21-14.
In the second game, Wan Ho took a good start and set up a reasonable lead of 4-1. However, Sugiarto accelerated his speed and took over the control.
The Indonesian dictated his Korean rival in all areas of the court and showed no mercy to him until the 60-second break when he reached at 11-8.
After the one-minute interval, the Indonesian remained ahead as he was quite positive in the game. The Korean failed to tackle the speed of Sugiarto and remained trailing in the whole set.
Sugiarto ended the second game in an authoritative way by a margin of 21-16. This Men’s Singles opening round battle ended with the victory of Sugiarto by a 21-14 and 21-16 score on the board.
