Malaysia Open: Wong Pei Tty and Chin Eei h*i secure Women’s Doubles title in front of home fans
Malaysia’s experienced players Wong Pei Tty and Chin Eei h*i made their home fans happy by winning Women’s Doubles title at the 2012 Malaysia Open Grand Prix Gold in Malaysia, on Sunday, May 6.
In the title match, Pei Tty and Eei h*i overpowered Singapore’s Yao Lei and Shinta Mulia Sari in a superb fashion and cheered their home fans with their victory at home.
Pei Tty and Eei h*i, who were second seeds in Women’s Doubles draw, played tremendous badminton and clinched the title in their last international tournament in Malaysia.
With this victory, Pei Tty and Eei h*i ended their three-year title draught at international level and it came at the right time before the retirement of Pei Tty from professional badminton.
However, Eei h*i has not yet confirmed her retirement and is expected by many to continue competing in international events for a little more time.
Pei Tty said, “This may well be our last title together. No, this win hasn’t changed my mind. It has become difficult for me after my injury. Maybe I can hang on for a few more tournaments but not for the long term. I can’t go on.”
She further added, “Eei h*i and I will play in the Indonesia and Singapore Opens. But I’m done after that. Eei h*i can go on playing because she is fitter.”
However, Eei h*i said, “I still haven’t made a decision on my future yet.”
In the title match of Malaysia Open, Pei Tty and Eei h*i showed their brilliance and defeated their higher ranked opponents Yao and Shinta in straight games.
On the other hand, the Singaporeans failed to live up to expectations as they could not take any set in the final match and lost it with a decent margin.
In the opening set, the top seeded Singaporeans played well but in starting half but failed to maintain the difference as the Malaysian shuttlers caught up and took the set with a 21-18 score on the board.
In the second game, the Singaporean ladies again remained in superb control and managed a comfortable lead of 16-11 but again failed to maintain it.
Pei Tty and Eei h*i played with wonderful determination and ended the supremacy of their opponents in the game. They won the game with a three-point margin on the board by making it 21-18.
Pei Tty and Eei h*i wrapped up Women’s Doubles title by ending the final match in 45 minutes with a 21-18 and 21-18 margin on the board.
