Malaysia v Tanzania – http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World Cricket League Division Four 2012 – Match Recap
Aided by centurion http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tanzania-c3019 (who remained winless) – at the Selangor Turf Club in Kuala Lumpur on September 9.
Tanzania won the toss and elected to bat first, but the Malaysian bowling attack, spearheaded by Shahrulnizam Yusof (10-3-30-3) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nikhil-Shridhar-Mandale-c79608 Arifin (6.2-1-32-3), did not allow the batsmen to settle in at the crease for too long.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 off Shahrulnizam Yusof in the 11th over. Khalifa followed him back to the pavilion
in the very next over, sent packing by Nik Arifin.
Enjo Seti consumed 20 deliveries for a mere 7-run contribution, and while he attempted to apply himself at the crease, Shahrulnizam Yusof swept both wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Issa-Kikasi-c64624 (17) and Zamoyoni Jabeneke (0) off the pitch, leaving Tanzania at 63 for
4 by the 17th over.
Seti was dislodged from the crease by Suharril Fetri, but the team received some respite with the innings of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nasibu-Mapunda-c78707 (32), both of whom joined forces for a 6th-wicket, 55-run stand. Their combined efforts got the
team up to 120 by the 34th over, after which Nassoro was run out by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ahmed-Faiz-Mohammad-Noor-c42316.
Skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hamisi-Abdallah-c61368 (10), Khalil Rehemtulla (7) and Nassoro Saidi (1) all chipped in with meagre contributions before walking back to the pavilion, and by the last over, with the final dismissal of Mapunda at the hands of Nik Arifin, Tanzania finished,
all out, at 187.
The majority of the Malaysian batsmen failed to fire, but their lacklustre performances remained inconsequential, as the team’s innings was driven largely by the unbeaten century of Player of the Match Madhavan (102*, including 15 fours), who saw his team
through to the end.
Top order batsmen Ullah Khan (0) and Ahmed Faiz (8) were both sent packing by Rehemtulla (10-1-46-3), and skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Suhan-Kumar-Alagaratnam-c91681 (5) was trapped lbw by Ally Kimote. By this point, Malaysia were at 44 for 3 by the 6th over.
However, wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Shafiq-Sharif-c77311 emerged as an able partner for Madhavan, contributing an individual score of 39 in addition to joining Madhavan for a 4th-wicket 88-run stand, after which he was bowled by Patwa in the 26th
over.
However, by this point, Malaysia had managed to reach 132, and Madhavan’s 30-run stand with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Anwar-Arudin-c76686 (4*) after Fetri’s dismissal at the hands of Rehemtulla, got the team up to 191,
with 5 wickets and 77 deliveries still remaining.
The victory marked Malaysia’s first win in the tournament, while Tanzania remained winless, as both teams' run in the ICC World Cricket League Division Four 2012 came to an end.
