past Ramli.
In the 19th minute, Ahmed became the first Malaysian player to go into the referee’s book as he brought down Charlie Adam in the midfield region after the former Blackpool star had taken the possession from him. In the
24th minute, Liverpool were awarded a penalty kick after Andy Carroll was taken out in the penalty area. The muscular Englishman was bundled to the ground by Jasuli and the referee spotted this infringement as he pointed to the spot. Adam stepped
up to take the penalty kick and he made no mistake as he powered the ball past Ramli into the bottom left hand corner of the net.
Just before the half time whistle in the first half, Malaysia showed tremendous character as they got their equalizer. The home team were given a free kick right at the edge of the Liverpool penalty area after Charlie Adam was
penalised for a hand ball. Nonetheless, Rahim stepped up take the set piece and his immaculate drive powered its way into the top right hand corner of the net as the score line reached 1-1. The first half came to a close shortly after as both the teams ended
the first 45 minutes period with a stalemate.
