Malaysian Faizal Saari displays brilliant performance in Australian Hockey League
Faizal Saari, the national hockey player from Malaysia, rendered wonderful performances in the Australian Hockey League (AHL) and had an assist to upgrade the level of his club. Playing for Forestville, he was at his best in Adelaide with four goals
in the two contests.
The 20-year-old Saari, hailing from Kelantan, set the pace four times in the couple of games he played. In the first game against Woodville, he marked a hat-trick, while added a single goal against Port Adelaide in the second competition.
Talking to the media, the Malaysian youngster said that he was quite pleased for his brilliant show-off in the last two games, particularly the four goals he scored.
He stated that it was an impressive start for him in the highly professional league, adding that they wanted to further hone their scoring techniques, besides making improvements in the passing. He further said, “It was an excellent debut for me in
the Australian League, which is considered as one of the best leagues in the world. My aim in the league is to sharpen my scoring ability and I am more than happy with my performance in the AHL.”
Saari, the runty player from Malaysia was not happy with his performance in the recently concluded Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. It is vital to mention here that the Malaysian side earned the disappointing last position in the seven-nation invitational. He
scored only three goals, while missing plenty of opportunities in the home-event.
Saari was of the view that he had impressed the management of the team with his wonderful playing style particularly the trickling skills and ball handling. He said that he was quite nervous in the opening game in pressure of foreign league, as it
was his first experience. However, he overcame his fear with loads of support and impetus from the senor players and the trainers.
The striker maintained that the management of the team also impressed him that improved his confidence in the game. He wanted to continue the scoring runs in the remaining fixtures. It is worth to mention here that he would contest ten more games in
the league in the recent season and revisit Adelaide in August 2011.
Apart from Faizal, another Malaysian player, Mohd Shukri Abdul Mutalib, is gracing the colours in the league. He is representing Southern Hotshot and plays at the mid-field position.
Mohd Shukri was also quite pleased for representing Southern Hotshot. He expressed that he had much improved his game in the league. It is important to mention here that both the players have been selected for first time for the Australian Hockey League.
