Malaysian Hockey Coach Tai Beng Hai allows players to partake in Malaysia Hockey League
In a bid to facilitate the players, Malaysian Hockey Coach Tai Beng Hai has permitted the national players to grace the colours in the Malaysian Hockey League (MHL) but ensuring their availability with the training sessions.
Tai Beng Hai, the national trainer while speaking to the media stated that he had no issue to release the national stars for the MHL if they were ready to meet their training schedules. The only point of concern is that the players attend their practicing
sessions for the upcoming mega events.
He informed that the players of the national team had been agreed for getting training four days in a week while play three with their respective club teams.
He explained the situation saying that it do not work in favour of the federation, as the clubs do not abide by the prescribed rules of the agreement. He said that in some cases the clubs do not allow the players to partake in the training sessions while
sometime players portray themselves injured. He said, “Sometimes the clubs do not release the players ... sometimes the players will fake injury to stay away from national training. We have raised these concerns and called for proper regulations to be put
in place so that the national training will not be affected.”
The trainer has rejected the impression that the federation was not ready to allow the players to take part in the league, indeed, wanted to postpone or scrap the event. He clarified the situation saying that the Malaysian Hockey Federation (MHF) had banned
the national team members from contesting the league; however, the matter was solved in the meeting between the National Sports Council (NSC) and representatives of the federation.
The national stars were permitted to take part in the two divisions of the tournament, he added saying that the decision will be formally approved by the Executive Council of the federation on August 20.
The National Coach was of the view that the prescribed guidelines will be followed strictly by the clubs as well the players for working as per the schedule. He commented, “If they do not turn up for whatever reason, then we have to take steps to drop them.
There must be no compromise on this. Otherwise, it defeats the purpose of having this option.”
Tai Beng Hai was looking for more positive results from the national side that is playing a five-match series against Japan. It is worth mentioning here that the Malaysian team after losing two games gathered pace and marked solitary victory in the third
test. They will face visiting Japan in on Saturday and Sunday for the final actions.
